Help:

General

The window is broken down into 3 frames.

The IconBar (top)

The Message Index (center)

The Message Text (bottom)

The IconBar (top)

The IconBar holds all of the global functions.

mail folder - To change folders, simply select the folder you want.

check mail - Refreshes the Message Index bringing with it any new email.

new message - opens the compose window allowing you to send a message.

empty trash - removes messages from the current mail folder that are marked with a
 <?php if ($textmode) echo "'D'"; else echo ""; ?>
 flag.

sent messages - shows mail that you have sent with PHPwebmail (if you did not set your preferences to store sent mail in an IMAP folder).

address book - an e-mail address book. You can import address books from textfiles with the following delimiters: Colon (,), Semicolon(;), or Tabulator. The file should only contain the name and e-mail fields. Example for importing from MS Outlook Express: Export your addressbook as a .csv file and export only the fields "name" and "e-mail".

mail folders - lets you manage your IMAP mail folders.

preferences - set up your user preferences.

logout - logs you out of the system. Very important for security reasons if you share your computer with other people or if you are using PHPwebmail from a public Internet terminal.

help - brings up this message.

The Message Index (center)

The Message Index is the index of the messages in the current folder. It is layed out in the following manner:

Flags

From/To

Subject (Click to read)

Date/Time

commands

The fields are as follows:

Flags: Message flags

 <?php if ($textmode) echo "A"; else echo ""; ?>
 - Answered

 <?php if ($textmode) echo "D"; else echo ""; ?>
 - Deleted

 <?php if ($textmode) echo "N"; else echo ""; ?>
 - New, unseen or recent

From/To: The sender or recipient (if the sender was the user) of the message.

Subject: The subject of the message. Click on the subject of the message to read the message.

Date/Time: When the message was sent.

delete all: Asks a final question before emptying the current mail folder.

re - reply to this message

all - reply to all recipients of this message

fw - forward this message

del - mark/unmark message for deletion.
To finally delete marked messages, click on empty trash in the IconBar.

New messages will be at the top of the list.

The Message Text (bottom)

This is where messages are read and composed.

If you want to forward a message, click on the sender's name (same as with reply) and change the recipient address to the one you are forwarding to.
When you have read a message, you can move it to a different mail folder with the little menu at the bottom.
For multiple recipients simply use a comma (',') between the email addresses.
If you want to send more than one attachment, please put them together as a ZIP file or send multiple messages.

Have fun,
