weeeeeeeeeeeeee

ok first you want to find some grunge brushes like stalemateisgod or something, search google you should come up with something and even make your own if you feel inclined...that'll come in a later tut

after thatopen up a new document whatever you want your sig size, standard for me is 400x100 with a transparent background.

fill the background with black and create a new layer, you can name them if you want i don't because i just...don't get confused that easily...anyway

take out the grunge brush you have selected and start brushing, don't go too crazy with it just a little here and there

something like that...for some little extra you can set your brush to Color Dodge and highlight some places with it

ok now it's time for the render take any render you want and size it to your sig then feather it to your liking:
ctrl+click the render layer, go to Select>Feather
i'd say feather it about 20 or so too give it a good feel, invert your selectiona nd delete it.

now we're going to add text, but we're going to use a certain kind of layer style....Double click on your text layer, a nice thick sans serif font would work, to bring up layer styles...

Drop Shadow:

Inner Shadow:

Outer Glow:

Inner Glow:

Bevel and Emboss:

Satin:

Color Overlay:
set color to white, blend mode to lighten and opac to 35%
Gradient Overlay:

Stroke:
Set to one pixel, outside opac 100%

Remember to save that style, wouldn't want to have to do that all over again

and keep in mind that is just the main text style...

ok now it's time for you border. make a new layer above everything else and press ctrl+A. now go to Edit>stroke and go about 3-4 pixels in a medium gray and press ok. add a one pixel black stroke to the border layer and a bevel and emboss with no size

You can skip this next step if you're not a perfectionist!
if you're a perfectionist like me you can also do this to your border. Take your block eraser tool, it's a setting when you pick the eraser, and zoom in all the way and go to the top left corner of the border. Now press shift and erase the edges that are along the outside of the sig. Like so:

and do that all around the edges...except all the way down the edges.

Ok now it's time for the coloring, for this i'm doing something that will match my render. I'm thinking green and light blue. so go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer> Color Balance

and pick a color that you like, don't forget to add shadows and highlights. If you feel so inclined make another color balance layer and click the layer masks of both layers and apply clouds, or use a black brush and brush them so you get a good mix of colors.

Make any modifications you want, adding text, maybe desaturating your render, feather your render if you forgot...like me...

With a few touch-ups, because I didn't like the look, don't forget about those brushes set to color dodge, they can bring a mediocre sig to great status

hope you enjoyed the tut
