I'll teach you how to make an awesome looking forum signature!

My final is going to look like this:

Alright now we'll get to the tut.

1. First what you want to do is open up a new document 400x100 pixels, transparent (if you like a different sig dimension it's totally up to you). Alright now fill the back layer with black and you should get this:

2. now get out your favorite set of brushes grunge abstract whatever you want, you can download some from vouksh's download section or my site. Ok now that you have your brush out, start to brush on the black background and make a good background with some contrast. If you need a little help with the contrast go to Image>Adjustments>Auto Contrast or Image>Adjustments>Brightness/contrast and play with the settings*. Here's an example of what you could come up with.

*Also to get a nice contrast use auto levels or get out a fluffy abstract brush and set it to color dodge and start selectively brushing

3. Now to add the border, I'll be using the 3-pixel border technique, but you can use whichever you choose:

4. Alright I think it's about time to add the render so get out a render you like and resize it and delete the background or do whatever you need to to get it into the sig. Once it's in the place you want it to be select it (ctrl+click on layer) and go to select>feather, use a feather of about 10-20 depending on the size of your render. I used a 15 on mine and also the opac is set down a little bit and desaturated:

5. Text is one of the most fundamentally important parts of a signature. It can make or break you so please try to pick a text that goes with the overall theme or idea of your sig. I used a font called bow that is cursive but it doesn't have a lot of serif and for my quote i used a pixel font called serious, I suggest you download it (www.dafont.com). If you want a sig text that blends in try using this style:
Drop Shadow:

Inner Shadow:

Bevel and Emboss:

Satin:
