Please follow the instructions below to install Maian Support. If you aren`t sure I offer an installation service.

Install ionCube Loaders

Before you begin, you must make sure the ionCube loaders are installed. See the ionCube section for help.

Setup

    1. Create a MySQL database to hold the script tables. [Video Tutorials]

2. In a text editor, open the 'control/connect.inc.php' file and edit the connection parameters to point to the database you just created.

3. In the same file you should also set the correct timezone, as well as change the default cookie name and secret key. See the notes for help.

IMPORTANT: You must change the key BEFORE you run the installer. If you change it after you will NOT be able to log in. If
you haven`t changed the default key you will be prompted to when you load the installer screen..

4. Create a directory on your web server to hold the script files. ie: /support/ You can install in the root if you prefer.

5. Upload all the contents of the Maian Support zip folder into this directory. Files should be uploaded in ASCII mode.

6. Set read/write permissions for the following folders. On a linux box chmod to 755 or 777, depending on which your server requires:

admin/export/
templates/attachments/

7. Access the installer in your browser and follow the onscreen instructions:

http://www.yoursite.com/support/install/

8. Once you have run the installer successfully, delete or rename the "install" folder.

9. On install a default user account is created with the following details:

E-Mail: hide@address.com
Pass: admin

10. With the above details, log in to your administration screen and click "Users". You should click the default user and change the e-mail and
password immediately on entry. Note that this user cannot be deleted. This user should ideally be used to add departments and adjust other settings.

11. Click "Settings" and update the system for your own system preferences. Use the help tips for information!

12. For security you MUST rename the "admin" directory. If you rename it, specify the new name in the settings. DO NOT use the word 'admin' in your
admin directory name. Use something totally random.

13. You can also set a few additional preferences in the following files using a text editor. Read the notes in these files for further information. Some of them are
    covered on the FAQ page.

control/defined.inc.php
admin/control/defined.inc.php

Thats it, all done. Read below for further information.

Error Logging

During the initial setup/testing phase, it may be a good idea to enable error reporting and error logging. To do this, do the following:

1 Create two folders in your installation and make them writeable:

log/
admin/log/

2 In the 'control/defined.inc.php' file set the 'ERROR_REPORTING' constant to 'E_ALL'. Uppercase!!

Once you are sure everything is working, you can disable error logging if you wish. If errors are generated, you`ll see a 'error_log.txt' file in either folder. View file
    for more information.

Basic Usage

The features tab above gives more information about certain features, but the basics are below. Note that some of these may have restrictions in place
if you are using the free version. All will be unlimited in the commercial version.

1. Set up some departments.

2. Add more users.

3. Set up knowledge base and standard response entries if applicable.

4. Test the ticket system.

See the Support Tickets page for further information.

Opening Support Tickets

Visitors will access the main front end to open tickets.

http://www.yoursite.com/support/

When an e-mail address hasn`t been used before the system will automatically assign a password for the person to log in and view any other tickets opened
with the same e-mail address. Passwords may then be changed by the visitor.

The same thing applies if you are using e-mail piping and someone sends an e-mail to the support e-mail address.

Once tickets have been received, replies can be added in the adminstration area.

Attachments

Multiple attachments can be added per ticket if enabled. (Note that the free version allows 1 attachment per ticket or reply).
It is recommended you don`t allow ALL file extensions and that you scan ALL attachments for viruses. Treat anything received from a visitor as suspicious!!
Most good virus scanners will check when you are saving attachments.
