When a song is requested, Brunhilde sends a generic .m3u playlist file to your browser. It is your browser's responsibility to pass this playlist file onto your mp3 player. The .m3u (playlist) file is made up of a series of url's (web addresses) direct your mp3 player to where it may find the specified mp3 file. It is your mp3 player's responsiblity to request, recieve via filestream, and play the mp3 file.

Internet explorer users will probably not have need to do anything special. Internet Explorer should automatically pass each playlist on to whichever program is associated with the .m3u (playlist files) in the registry. This program is usually your default mp3 player (probably windows media player or winamp). If you are using brunhilde for the first time, you may see a download window pop up instead of your mp3 player. Choose the \"run file from current location\" option and check the box telling it to do this automatically.

Any other standard browser should work with brunhilde. Brunhilde passes the .m3u (playlist) files with the \"audio/x-mpegurl\" mime-type. This mime-type must be registered with your mp3 player in order to work.

Your registered mp3 player must support the m3u filetype, as well as mp3 streaming capabilities.

In the main \"index.php\" form, you will see a \"select all\" and a \"deselect all\" button. These buttons will not work unless javascript has been enabled. Otherwise, the use of javascript in the brunhilde project has been avoided.

Your individually created playlists are stored on your computer in a standard cookie. In order to create, edit, and save personalized playlists, your browser's cookie feature must be enabled.
